They grow up so fast

April 2026

It feels like we have 3 babies. Baby Carter, Nina is recovering, and I'm learning how to be a Dad and a better husband.

Where We’ve Been

Carter is 2 months old now! We’ve phased out the last of her “newborn” clothes and gear since she’s officially a baby. Adventures out of the house are becoming more regular, the distance of our walks is also increasing.

Nina’s body is recovering very well. When my family came out to visit, she was able to hike all the way to Taggart Lake. We even went skiing the following week in preparation for a ski trip coming up next month. Baby steps. Both of us are eager for her to be back to 100%.

We have loved hosting. To have both my sister and parents stay with us was so special, and we feel so grateful that the Lord has provided such a great home (makes us think about how far we’ve come since our van life days)!

Where We’re Going

April will bring about our first two trips as a family of 3! Between four domestic flights and two international flights. We’re both nervous and excited to grow in our confidence to take care of Baby wherever the Lord takes us.

This will also mark the first time we’re leaving home in almost 5 months. This was the longest stint we have ever stayed in one place since getting married in 2021! It has been fun to grow closer to our community during this time. I am weary that with the reintroduction of all the travel again, we may lose some of the incredible joys that come from really doing life with other people.

What We’re Learning

As I was rocking Carter to sleep, both of us were looking up at the Fruits of the Spirit posters that we hung up in her room. I realized two things: the first was that I find myself particularly struggling with one of them—gentleness, and the second was that if someone asked me what the 9 fruits were, I couldn’t have named them all.

This conviction has kick-started my desire to not just read and be able to recall Scripture but have it memorized word-by-word and be able to rattle off the exact address from where they belong.

I have always been fond of Joshua 1:9 but couldn’t believe I didn’t also know the verse just before it, Joshua 1:8: "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

In Case You Missed It

The New Zealand vlogs are now rollin’. I turned this one around in just a day—my fastest full-length video edit EVER. Spoiler alert: We went to the 2nd most beautiful place in the world (that we have seen—in my opinion).
