We’re coming back from the future (Currently 19 hours ahead of US time)!

Where We’ve Been

CALIFORNIA. Weddings #4 and #5 took us down to San Diego where Nina grew up and then all the way up to San Jose! Along the way we saw a number of friends along the central coast and were able to spend some time at one of our favorite spots—Big Sur.

Before we knew it we were on our time-traveling journey to New Zealand which is 19 hours ahead! It’s been interesting trying to work and coordinate with people back home with such a big time difference. Not to mention that we spent the past two weeks living in an RV. Which reminded us of our first year of marriage spent living the “vanlife” in the US. Traveling in an RV was definitely an upgrade from the van and vital for enjoying our time in New Zealand.

New Zealand’s South Island was beautiful, and we can’t wait to share more from the trip in the coming weeks on social media. The fjords of Milford Sound felt otherworldly—landing at my #2 most beautiful place in the world (that we’ve seen). The snow-capped mountains paired with the green fields and alpine blue lakes even had Nina excited to rewatch the Lord of the Rings series. BTS notes from the trip were traveling with two of our friends from Jackson, trying out a new camera (Canon G7X—a surprise gift for Nina before the trip), and then crashing the drone on day 1 of the trip lol.

Where We’re Going

HOME! We’re going home. Last time we were there, we had just moved out of our condo and began our long stint of sleeping in 11 different beds in the month (with the van only counting as 1). It has been over a month since we have been back to Jackson and are rapidly becoming homesick. However, we also start our potentially longest streak of staying in one place in years (thanks to the much-anticipated arrival of baby in the New Year).

What We’re Learning

How to cherish and be present in the season that we have been in while also looking to what lies ahead. Our little family of 2 will become 3 soon. But not yet. We are trying to make the most of every full night of sleep and every uninterrupted conversation with friends.

Children are a blessing from the Lord. But so is a good wife. I pray that the foundation that Nina and I have laid for our marriage and family these past four years has been built upon The Rock. We are so excited for what the Lord has in store for us.
