Where We’ve Been

January was a whole lot of waiting. We found ourselves in a weird spot between putting things on hold in case the baby were to come or trying to live life normally as if baby wasn’t even close.

I have been getting out backcountry skiing—trying to stay in shape and get some good time in the mountains with friends. I also played in a big all-day volleyball tournament. This was really special as I feel like I can reach a lot of people through sports ministry.

Lately, we have also been especially thankful for our life group out here. To be a part of such a loyal and committed group of families that all love The Lord is so special. It’s also fun to think of all of our little ones growing up together.

Where We’re Going

We’re excited to eventually get back into traveling and adventures, but for now, we’re stoked to spend the month of February at home focusing on Nina’s recovery, learning as first-time parents, and watching the winter Olympics!

What We’re Learning

I had known this was coming, but having a baby is an absolute crash course in theology. It’s helped us to understand God’s love for us in a completely new and undescribable way. I knew that I would experience this love for Carter but what I didn’t expect was how it would change my feelings for Nina.

To watch your wife suffer through the birthing pains for the sake of your family—to bring about new life in our sweet baby girl. That was what moved me to tears. I felt like the Lord was reminding me that Nina and I are the core of our family. In order to love and lead my family well, I will need to focus on loving my wife first.
